Privacy Policy

Who is responsible

Countdown is developed by Miguel Rosa Zazo, an individual developer based in Madrid, Spain (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the limited data described here. Contact: miguelrzazo@proton.me.

Data that stays on your device and in your iCloud

To show your countdowns, Countdown uses the following, only with the permissions you grant:

• Calendars and Reminders (through Apple’s EventKit), including accounts such as Google or Exchange that you added in Settings, and the Birthdays calendar.
• What you add in the app: deadlines, categories, subjects, notes, stars and done status.
• Notifications and Live Activities, which are scheduled locally on your device.
• Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight: Countdown shares deadline titles and dates with the system so it can answer questions and show results. Apple processes these requests under its own privacy policy.

This data is stored on your device and, if iCloud is turned on, in the private database of your own iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit. It is never sent to us, and we have no way to access it. Apple’sprivacy policy covers iCloud.

Purchases

The 7-day free trial needs no purchase, and Countdown Lifetime is an In-App Purchase sold through the App Store. Apple processes it; we never receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details.

The app checks what you’ve bought using Apple’s StoreKit on your device. The signed purchase records stay between your device and Apple; they aren’t sent to us or to any third party, and we don’t use any purchase or analytics service. Apple may give us aggregate, anonymous sales reports (for example, how many copies sold per country), which can’t identify you.

Diagnostics shared by Apple

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

This website

This site is hosted by Vercel, Inc. (USA). Like any web server, it processes your IP address and basic request information (browser, page requested, time) to deliver pages and protect against abuse, based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are kept for a short period by Vercel. The site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. If you email us, we use your message only to reply and delete it once it’s no longer needed.

International transfers

Vercel, which hosts this website, is based in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or erase your data, restrict or object to its processing, or receive a copy of it. In practice we hold no personal data about app users: everything lives on your devices, in your iCloud and with Apple. You can also complain to the Spanish data protection authority,Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or to the authority where you live.

To remove data kept on your side: delete the app to erase data on that device, and remove the iCloud copy in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Storage › Countdown › Delete Data. Your purchase history is managed by Apple in your Apple Account.

Children

Countdown is suitable for all ages and doesn’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone. Purchases by children are governed by Apple’s Family Sharing and Ask to Buy controls.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, mention it in the app’s release notes.
